Threadlifts

Eye surrounded by youthful skin

A thread lift is a surgical procedure that reduces wrinkles and sagging, however thread lifts are not face lifts and do not require hospitalisation. The premise of Thread lifts involves inserting threads under the skin to correct sagging and make the face look more youthful. Thread lifts can be used on all skin types and tones.

The threads, or sutures, can prevent your skin from sagging and firm your face, by literally holding it up. There are several different types of threads which work in different ways. Suspension or smooth threads have to be suspended from good anchoring points on the scalp or face. Barbed or cogged threads are lifted and suspended by the surgeon to form a support structure for relaxed skin.

The process begins with vertical skin tension lines being drawn on the face. Then, under local anaesthetic, the surgeon will insert the threads with a needle which forces the skin to retract in the required, precise directions. Once the necessary traction is set the threads are cut at both ends.

After the procedure ice is placed over the area to prevent bruising. A typical time frame for a treatment session is around 2 hours, and normally 2 or 3 areas can be treated in on session. The procedure is practically painless, due to the local anaesthetic used; however there area treated will possibly be sensitive for a few days following the procedure. Normal day to day tasks can be resumed as usual, but exercise should be refrained from for 2-3 weeks.
