Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a popular cosmetic procedure used to treat conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, blotchy skin and blemishes and acne scarring among other things. The treatment can be used on the face, hands and body and works on all skin types, from light skin to dark skin.
Microdermabrasion uses no lasers or chemicals. The treatment involves passing a fine collection of medical grade crystals over the skin's surface using a hand held device. This abrasion of the skin causes the uppermost dead layer of skin (stratum corneum) to be removed either partially or completely depending on the treatment required. The treatment has been used to treat millions of patients over the last ten years bringing fantastic results without side effects.
The procedure is virtually pain free, thus it requires no anaesthetic and is very quick, normally taking around 30 minutes per treatment. This makes it a very popular treatment to have performed quickly often during a lunch break from work, as you can return to work as soon as the procedure is completed.
You may require a course of treatments dependant on the skin condition, the severity of the condition and the overall required results.
