Leg Veins

Also known as spider leg veins this is a condition where small superficial blood vessels appear red and blue. They are usually smaller than varicose veins and spider out in a tree -branch style pattern across the skin. The causes are not certain but several factors add to the likelihood of having spider leg veins. Heredity is the greatest factor but hormones also play a role and they can develop during pregnancy or the menopause. The veins can be weakened by ageing, obesity, leg injury or prolonged standing.

The veins look unsightly and some women find it knocks their confidence so much they don’t wear skirts and swimsuits. These thread veins can also cause a dull aching feeling which can be very uncomfortable.

Sclerotherapy (and Foam Sclerotherapy) and Laser Surgery are considered as some of the best methods for removing leg veins.
