Laser Leg Veins Treatment
Leg veins can be an unsightly and upsetting condition for many people. Though it occurs in males and females, it tends to be women who find them more distressing as it can remove the option of wearing skirts (or shorts).
Leg veins can be caused by a variety of reasons, but the main causes are considered to be pregnancy, association of varicose veins, hereditary or genetic predisposition and occupational hazards such as jobs that involve long periods of standing.
Laser treatment can be the answer to your problem. Using laser energy, delivered through the skin, the veins in the leg are precisely targeted. As the veins are heated the walls of the veins collapse and are sealed shut. After this the body then naturally breaks down and absorbs the sealed and collapsed vein.
It is typical for the treatment to case minimal discomfort, similar to a stinging sensation. To combat this there are anaesthetic creams that can be applied along with cooling systems on the laser to further protect and cool the skin. During treatment there is also a thin layer of cooling gel applied to the area to be treated.
Laser treatment can be performed on all skin tones and types and is most effective on smaller veins. Typically only one or 2 treatments are required. In most cases the elimination of veins is permanent, however the treatment cannot stop the development of new veins appearing in the future, and further treatment may be needed to deal with these.
After treatment the region can be slightly swollen, or tender. The treated area should be kept moisturised and away from sunlight, sunscreen is recommended. Keeping the leg supported in support tights or stockings and avoiding heavy exercise for approximately 7 days is advised to help recovery.
