Laser Hair Removal

For most of us hair removal is time consuming. Whether you’re shaving, using tweezers or hair removal waxes or creams, hair removal is a pain, figuratively and literally. There is always the option of electrolysis, which is a permanent option, but it is slow, painful and can often lead to scarring.

This is where laser hair removal comes into play. Laser hair removal can be used to treat either small or large areas and is a much quicker and more effective alternative to other methods. The number of treatments required can vary from person to person and can be dependent on skin tone and hair type, usually about 6-8 treatments are required.

Laser hair removal works by laser energy being turned to heat energy when absorbed by the hair follicle, this causes thermal damage to the follicle without any damage to the surrounding skin, thus ceasing growth in the treated follicle.

The following areas can be treated with laser hair removal, providing almost permanent results; Upper Lip, Chin, Forearms, Underarms, Legs, Bikini Line and Back.

A typical time frame for laser hair removal can vary from 10 minutes for an upper lip to about 45 minutes for the back area, much quicker than many other hair removal methods.

Many people are worried about whether the process is painful or not. Most recipients of the treatment do experience minimal discomfort, often described as a slight stinging sensation on their skin as the treatment is delivered. This can be treated by anaesthetic creams to make the procedure more comfortable.

After treatment there is no reason you cannot continue your normal daily routines, however it is advised to avoid heavy sun exposure (no sunbathing). Also you may experience a little redness and experience increased hair growth in the treated areas, however these are lifeless hairs that will fall out easily.
