Laser Acne Treatment
A common skin complaint in people world wide, acne can be very distressing especially when it is very prominent on the facial areas. Throughout their life most people will have some degree of acne, but many people suffer from this severely, and for others it is just something that makes them insecure and unhappy.
Acne is caused by skin cells that do not shed properly and in turn clog pores. This results in oil and bacteria to become trapped inside the pores and as this increases the skin becomes inflamed and swells which forms acne as it is commonly seen.
There are many different treatments for acne, but they do not all work for everyone. As skin types vary so do results for many treatments available today. Laser treatment is an alternative that takes a different route to the problem and tackles it at the base level.
Using state of the art green laser technology, the laser is delivered through the skin and triggers the body’s natural bacterial defences. These then kill the problem causing the bacteria, reducing the severity of the current condition and stemming future occurrences.
A typical treatment session will be around 40 minutes to 1 hour. The recommended number of treatments would be approximately 4 spread over 2 weeks – 2 per week, but this can vary depending on the severity of the condition. Results can vary from person to person. There is continued improvement after the treatments have ended.
With laser treatments there is commonly a little discomfort, normally described as a slight stinging sensation during the process. After treatment the area can appear slightly flushed and swollen which typically subsides after a few hours, but can on rare occasions take a few days to subside. Sunscreen is recommended initially, though makeup and cosmetics can be applied immediately as the skin itself is not damaged at all.
